About Us

We have the goal of a socially and ecologically just city (society)

KIEZconnect is a voluntary initiative (registered non-profit association) of Berlin neighbors oriented towards the common good, which counters the current social, ecological and economic crises with a participatory and inclusive approach. We promote the decentralized self-organization of communities in neighborhoods so that they can develop and implement solutions on their own.

We are a voluntary network of neighbors (Kreuzberg, Neukölln, Charlottenburg, Pankow, Friedrichshain, Steglitz, Lichtenberg, Mitte, Wedding...) moderators & activists from the fields of sociology, political science, organizational development, architecture and urban planning, cultural studies, philosophy and permaculture. We know that local initiatives respond best to people's needs. And we believe that local networks can help people help each other. We are very well and broadly networked in Berlin and are active in many alliances.

We see our contribution in helping people to self-organize their neighborhood society by offering initial help for the organization of open meetings and moderating them if necessary. In addition, we coordinate meetings of initiatives among themselves in order to strengthen networking, and support initiatives that are oriented towards the common good and that we organize ourselves in getting their concerns heard in politics and administration. In open meeting, discussing, planning, designing and learning together, we see the method of promoting a neighborhood society with enough resilience to be able to defy current and future crises. The idea here is that self-organized communities form, which are holistically structured in the areas of social, ecological and economic aspects. According to the principle: act locally and think globally!

We started our initiative in 2016 and have been non-profit since 2022. You can find out more about the development history here. link
